SCP-173 is an SCP object that is aggressive and attacks players if it is not in a direct line of sight, either by looking away or by blinking. SCP-173 uses the ventilation system to get around in the facility.

Description[]

Moved to Site-19 1993. Origin is as of yet unknown. It is constructed from concrete and rebar with traces of Krylon brand spray paint. SCP-173 is animate and extremely hostile. The object cannot move while within a direct line of sight. Line of sight must not be broken at any time with SCP-173. Personnel assigned to enter container are instructed to alert one another before blinking. Object is reported to attack by snapping the neck at the base of the skull, or by strangulation. In the event of an attack, personnel are to observe Class 4 hazardous object containment procedures.

Personnel report sounds of scraping stone originating from within the container when no one is present inside. This is considered normal, and any change in this behaviour should be reported to the acting HMCL supervisor on duty.

The reddish brown substance on the floor is a combination of feces and blood. Origin of these materials is unknown. The enclosure must be cleaned on a bi-weekly basis.

In-game[]

SCP-173 will always try to chase and attack players it encounters and it is able to kill them in a single hit. SCP-173 cannot move while under a direct line of sight. Looking at SCP-173 through walls also prevent it from moving (this does not apply when SCP-173 is being controlled by a player).

SCP-173 can be contained by a Nine-Tailed Fox unit. The only way to do this is by touching SCP-173 for a few seconds. SCP-173 is then put into a cage. It will follow the player that contained it for a indefinite period of time until the player either gets killed or has left the server, as there is no way to re-contain it in its containment chamber.

Tips[]

  • Always check the corners and blink before opening doors. You can also close doors as long as you are in front of the button.
  • You can use the S-NAV Ultimate and Super Night Vision Goggles in order to locate SCP-173 and avoid those areas or enter them with caution, such as SCP-914.
  • You may also use Eyedrops to slow down your blink rate.
  • By moving into groups as any team, such as researchers, Class-D, or Nine-Tailed Fox, you can easily avoid being killed by SCP-173. As long as at least two people have eye contact with SCP-173, you are safe. However, this requires massive coordination, something that most players lack. Players must notify if they are blinking so that the other player does not manually blink.

Controlling[]

There can be only one player controlling SCP-173. Players must buy the "Playable SCP-173" gamepass in order to play as SCP-173. The gamemode is unlocked and can be found in the main menu. However, if another player is controlling SCP-173, the button will not work.

Clicking "1" flickers the lights and clicking "2" teleports the player to another room. The player can kill other players by simply touching them.

Version history[]

Pre-Alpha[]

  • Introduced.

Pre-Beta[]

  • Playable SCP-173 was added.
  • Playable SCP-173 was removed. The developer claimed that this was too abusive.
  • Playable SCP-173 was re-added with two new abilites: flicker lights and teleport to another room.

Trivia[]

  • SCP-173 is somewhat less common than SCP-106 as SCP-106 spawns under a player while SCP-173 can usually be found in Heavy Containment Zone.
  • The player that plays as SCP-173 can customize its skin to Classic-173, Bloody-173 or Golden-173.
